I need some input on when DDR3 is set to drop, I seirously cannot wait any longer for that day to come. Summesr coming soon and if the prices drop after summer, well, Ill just be damn fucking pissed.

I've just googled DDR3 price drops but no big discussions on any of the major tech sites yet, let this be the first.

Im ready for an extreme upgrade when DDR3 prices cut half and thier timings reduced. CL8+ is just not acceptable, apparently, 800+ CL4 outperforms 1600+ CL7. When prices go down (hopefully near or around the summer and JUST NOT FUCKING AFTER) ill pick myself up a nice 790I Ultra Sli with GT200 probably and some DDR3. But until timings and prices go down, I'm not even considering.

If you have any idea when the prices would go down, it would be useful to us all, tech sites say 2008 but were half way through and most hi performance DDR3 kits are still going for 350+USD.

I would say Q3-Q4 this year is the turning point. Intel Nehalem is DDR3 only and it will be released Q4 this year. Before taht Intel makes sure we can get DDR3 at decent price.

btw your nice 790i ultra board is freaking expensive.... it is 370€ here... And who said GT200 will be released this summer... ?

why don't you just get some decent DDR2-800? The performance difference to the fastest DDR3 is only like 3%
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

This man speaks the truth.

Tbh, it looks as if your brain has been sizzled by online marketing and NEEDING TO UPGRADE AT EVER POSSIBLE MOMENT AND NOT SPEND MONEY ON ANYTHING ELSE.

Some people are still around with systems which could fit 20 times into yours, yet you NEED the newest shit? Wow. What a life.

I completely agree.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I'd say Q3-Q4 aswell, specifically because of Nehalem, thats your turning point when demand will really begin to take off.

When they talk about Q2 releases etc, they almost always mean the last few weeks of that quarter, therefor, I wouldnt be suprised if the 9900GTX/GX2 is kept back until August :\

So same goes for DDR3, any price drop would most likely occur in the later weeks of that quarter.

Edit:  Forgot to finish that point

I have heard July, but August is what I would guess as well.  But DDR3 not worth it.
