MSI P7N SLi 750i Review
Review here: http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/article.h … VzaWFzdA==MSI has a solid “enthusiast” motherboard in the P7N SLI Platinum. At $145 after $20MIR, the price is hard to argue with as well. I would highly suggest making sure you have the latest BIOS though as some of the early ones where not very OC friendly. As you can see here, the E8500 is probably not the best selection for a budget build if you are going to overclock the CPU. You can however pick up an OEM E8200 for $180 which would likely get you to the 3.1GHz mark quickly on this motherboard. An E8400 would likely be a good choice as well. Couple that with a what amounts to dirt cheap 8800 series video cards at both TigerDirect and Newegg, and you are looking a fairly powerful gaming system for less than $450 if you have RAM to bring over from a previous build. The MSI P7N SLI Platinum proved to be a very stable motherboard with great performance. Do not expect to be pushing the bleeding edge of the overclocking envelope with it in terms of FSB, but do cool that northbridge, and it should show you some great service on the cheap.
