Well my Problem is that my internet completely dies at 7:45 pm every day then starts working around 10 pm. SO I called my ISP and they siad there is nothing wrong with my connection and its my browsers fault. After re installing fire fox still no luck, tried the other two computers in my house(they are wire less they don't work either even if they are directly plugged into my D-link.

Any Ideas How to fix this? it has been like the for four months.

Maybe there is something programed into the router to shut down your internet at that specific time, check

your isp said it's your browsers fault?  how exactly did they determine that over the phone?  sounds like bullshit to me.  can you ping any internet sites when this happens?

I am not sure man I am a bit of a n00b with this type of stuff of stuff. Some times it will load google but after that no other sites nothing it will start to load something, then say something along the lines of could not connect to www._________.com

One thing you can do is find your router manual, and look up how to reset it. Usually there is a small pinhole button on the router to reset it, but it's often along the lines of "turn of all computers. Unplug router. Eat a cake. Press the reset button. Hold the button until the summer equinox" and so on, the manual should give the details.

If that doesn't work, look in your manual at router configuration. It should tell you to open up you're browser and go to the "website" "192.168.0.1" or something similar, that is the address of your router and should pop up a password window which is typically "admin" and "1234" though I don't know D-Link routers well and again you should consult the manual.

Once inside, look for a "reset to factory default" or the like, and go through that process.

The whole point is to try to remove any time restrictions set on the router, which may have been set (don't know your age, so pardon me if this is amiss) by your parents or someone else.

Finally, your ISP is full of shit and always will be.

If you have any 3rd party hardware (ie - routers), the ISP will always blame that.

Next time you get the error:

1. go to Start -> Run  (or windows-button + R)
2. type in "cmd" and click ok
3. type in "ping www.google.com"
4. see if it responds

If it does respond, I assume there is a problem with your PC. If not, do what Defiance said.

Yes. But I really dont think that would block the internet at a certain time every day then make it work again

well, it doesn't hurt to check.  especially if you're using that garbage norton internet security crap.  you should try booting into 'safemode with networking' and see if it is still blocked.

do you use DSL?  If you do, manually reset the PPPoE connection settings and go through a power cycle.

what D-link router and/or modem do you have?

edit:  I assume you have this:

http://www.triotel.com/PDF%20files/PPPo … ctions.pdf

follow those steps.

if not, I'll try to help you some more by finding out the best solution.

dang, I can't seem to find any user friendly manuals on how to manually set the PPPoE on your router.

I would contact D-link directly and ask them how to do that.

b.t.w.  Do you have a filter on your phonejack that connects to the DSL line? It might be the filter.

sorry, I can't find anything else to assist you.

You said that you reset the modem, but have you tried physically restarting it?  When I have internet problems like this, here is what I do:

1. Unplug the modem's power cord
2. Wait 5 minutes, then plug it back in
3. Immediately restart the computer

After the restart, my internet always works.

My connection used to drop at exactly 6pm sundays to thursdays for a few seconds (just enough to force my reouter to reboot). It went away after a few months and I never proved what it was but so sure it was either my phone provider or my ISP throttling or shaping something which my router didn't like. I don't think it's a coincidence that you lose connection during peak hours. From experience the monkies at the ISP call centres are either kept poorly informed or are trained to bend the truth.
