I only have about $1100.. but if somebody could...

I have a monitor and a mouse.

I would like around 3GB of RAM with extra slots. For the graphics hard, I'm looking at a 8800GT-AR GeForce 512MB. Is there something better I should be looking at?

I really would like to run games on med-high settings.
And, please all from one site.
Of course, karma for help.

Thanks.
-Luigi

That should do pretty nicely. I chose the E8200 because Newegg is out of E8400s at the moment. It can easily be clocked to E8400 speeds, or you could wait a bit and get an E8400.

This is a bit under budget, so if you can either be a bit more specific with the components or spend the extra on some nice accessory.

EDIT: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6835186134 you'll enjoy an aftermarket cooler over the Intel stock.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I don't think he'll have much use for the SLi capability over a GTS. SLi'd 9600GTs would be sex, though, as they beat the Ultra. Also, he wanted 3GB RAM.

just chuck in another 2gb sticks in ...and then get the inmail rebate....an sli board is always good if a performance boost was in need or w/e ...plus the superclocked gt is almost as good as the gts anyways

An overclock doesn't add 16 shaders.

We're using Newegg.com, a great US retailer.

Let me re-configure for the fact that you already got HD and optical drive...

Changed the RAM and changed the graphics card to SLI 9600GTs. SLI'd 9600GTs are faster than the 8800GTX and even Ultra, if I remember it correctly.
