So I've saved up about $800 for a new-lower end laptop: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 834198001R
Or I can upgrade my old desktop from this:
Pentium 4 - 2.66 ghz.
DDR 512 Ram
XFX Geforce 6200-(AGP)
PSU-350 watts
XP Home Edition
· Upgrade my RAM to 2 gigs.
· Add a Geforce 7600gt (isn’t there compatible versions for AGP?)
· And buy a new PSU?
I’m buying the laptop for:
1. Java programming
2. Basic schoolwork and college
3. Gaming (obviously )
But I know that even with the laptop, I will probably waste a good 3-4 hours a day during school instead of doing homework. I don’t trust myself with that kind of hardware. I know I could buy a new mobo too, but my parents said they would buy me a better system in a year or two if I wait to buy and just upgrade.
So…
What should I do? I think I’m gonna save $600 for my own car ( ), and spend about $150 to upgrade the computer…then spend $50 to take my girl somewhere nice .
Your opinions?
