Kit Specific Weapons to Contribute to Relevant Awards ONLY

By this I mean, to obtain a Sniper Combat Badge, kills should only be counted from their core weapons and not vehicles, etc..

Last night I was playing on Karkand and requested UAV.. got the familiar 'No Commander on your Team' message so I signed on. I dont usually play as Commander, as I prefer to groundpound, but nonetheless I was a Sniper and found a nice place to set up Command Shop and we proceeded to white wash the enemy. While I was in the Command screen, I heard the familiar promotion / medal / badge / ribbon drumroll and looked back on the mainscreen to see "You Have Been Awarded Veteran Sniper Combat"..

I felt VERY cheated. Does anyone else agree that Kit specific awards should only been given when the amount of kills is satisfied with the kit's core weapons as opposed to killing with anything?

The award system is what keeps Battlefield 2 going and offers people challenging incentives to push their limits and improve their skill. Here I get a Veteran Badge for laying prone in some corner like a rat and clicking a few buttons on a screen.

This honestly has to change.

I agree. It annoys me when people have expert sniper, and like 6000 kills as sniper, and then you look at their stats and its like 50 kills with the actual rifle. They should be separated because their is already different badges for each different class of vehicles, and therefore the kit combat badges should count only from kit kills.

Eh, you should have already known that is how it is and chose a kit like engineer or something.
This whole subject may have been talked about before... try search.
This would also be very basic knowledge for most people here.

There is skill involved in commanding. It's not as simple as it seems. You have to think and plan ahead because not very many people pay attention the their commander.
Also, you should get the points from arty kills... without using a kit, how would the points get counted?

Anyway, you still got expert to work for. Just be carefull not to screw yourself by being commander while being whatever kit you are that you want to earn a specific badge for. Whew... that dos'nt exactly roll off the tongue does it.

I emailed EA about this the other day. Don't expect a reply. The only badge I got without my kit weapon was the Engineer (pre 1.2).... and I used hand grenades on Karkand to get it! I mean, how hard can it be compared to getting your expert knife or pistol???

I got my veteran engineer/veteran repair badge this way, but hell. I was in a tank, repairing my damaged team-mates/-assets, so what is wrong with that? And why all this crying about badges, they are just for show and sense of accomplishment. I got my Good Conduct Medal yesterday while in a LAV25, murdering my enemies and supporting my teammates, now that takes skill!

I see your point.. it does take skill to maneuvre a vehicle to maximum lethality.. but why earn a Sniper Combat Badge from it when vehicles have little to do with Sniper skills to begin with? This is my point. There are people out there who want to acheive these badges the right way, because, as you said.. it gives a sense of accomplishment. Kit specific Awards should only be awarded to relevant kit weapons. If you would have bothered to read my original post, you'd get the picture.

i totally agree.............one badge i was pretty proud of in the beginning was getting my ground defense badge. I thought it had to be from a tow missile so i sat in that darned thing the whole game and finally got my 5th tow kill with just tickets to go. then my buddy got his from a mounted machine gun while being a commander and i was like "what the hell!?!?" Then I just felt like an idiot for wasting so much time. 8-)

I like it as it is now, when I was playing with one of my xfire friends and I was his copilot of the f15, I got my veteran engineer badge that way .

The irony of guns, is that they can save lives.
