I remember not long ago someone was polling if protesters actually made any difference. Well, I guess it's safe to say this is a perfect example of how it does matter. And as usual, the unique style only the San Francisco Bay Area can bring, the tour was plenty disruptive and decorated:
http://cbs5.com/local/golden.gate.bridge.2.693783.htmlIn San Francisco on Monday, before the torch’s arrival on its only stop in the United States, several protesters scaled the vertical suspension cables of the Golden Gate Bridge and unfurled two large banners reading, “One World, One Dream,” and “Free Tibet 08.” At least seven people were arrested. And for you ignoramuses (cameron poe), the SF Bay Area protesters absolutely know where Lhasa is, what the favorite color of the Dalai Lama is, and probably the names and sexual orientation of each Chinese commander laying siege to Tibet.
Just because you guys don't know jack, doesn't mean protesters are just doing it because others are. These are angry, sophisticated, well educated people protesting with passion. I drive here and see the rallies, see the free tibet bumper stickers on their subarus, and I see the marches. It's not just ignorant kids trying to get out of school.
