I get fine hit reg when I play online. My little brother has moved in with me, and he will be gaming soon when he gets a computer. Will we both get noticeably worse results?

Also need to get a new modem for us both to connect to. Would anyone recommend this? http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu … mp;subcat=

Me, my brother, my step brother game all the time, with my sister sometimes on the XBox. 4 people on a two meg connection works fine, with ping going from 20 to a still playable 120 in BF2.

Online gaming doesn't really generate that much traffic. You'll only really see decreased performance if either of you do anything to generate a lot of throughput.

Two people simulteanously gaming should be fine; 3 would be pushing it.

But if one of you is downloading and the other is gaming, you will not be able to play. At all.

If your brother is a myspace whore you might want to kill him when you play.

But two people would be able to play newest games at the same time without any problems on 1+ meg connection.

Three? Pushing it? On a 3Mb line? I've played BF2 with three mates, online, on my old 512Kb line. Pings were just ~10ms higher than usual.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

3mb is slow so you will probably notice a difference , but then again depends how you have your internet tweaked and your router.

I've had 6 people playing online at my house when we had a LAN-party, that was about 4 years ago on a 1mbit connection. Pings were 10ms higher than usual.

If you want to be cruelawesome, go on his computer one day and set his windows media player to automatically monitor for new videos, and then set it to allow access from other computers (yours). Then proceed to show him his own porn.

Besides, the upload speed is the limiting factor in your connection.

Naw, no worries. We have 6 people playing on one connection here, (COD4, COH, BF2) and no problems.

I used to have like 7 PC's on the net on a 5mbit line while multiple people were gaming/downloading and never lagged at all. The only time I would lag is if someone uploaded a big file.

I've had four people play BF2 on 512/128. Pings got a little weird but hitreg was still its shiteful self.

You can only assume COD4 and all the newer games require more bandwidth though, BF2 dropped down to three players to fix 1.3's famous 'issue'.
