"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing's replaced them," Obama, an Illinois senator, said.

"And it's not surprising then they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren't like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations," he said.

At least when Bush says something stupid, he's just having trouble speaking. When Obama says something stupid (happening a lot more lately), he's quite eloquent and verbose in his stupidity.

This dude will snatch defeat from the jaws of victory yet.

Saw that. A little bit of political naivety there. He's still a better speaker than Bush though. President Bush reminds me of President Tug Benson in Hot Shots. He's quite embarrassing to watch.

What I'm getting at is that Obama said exactly what he meant to say...which is a far cry from the Bushisms out there.

It's a shame that it is a political liability to call out what is a genuine problem with the working class. They have a lamentably simplistic view of politics, taken as a general whole.

He made the mistake of making a speech within a larger context.

In today's media circus world its all about simple flashy sound bites, and he slipped up on this one.  He'll learn.

Meanwhile, McCain keeps getting a free pass on just about every thing to come out of his mouth, and we won't even talk about Hillary and Bill 2.0's ranting.

Bush was a brilliant speaker 10 years ago when he was ruinning for governor of Texas, but since 9/11 he's cracked, on crack or on some serious medication for mental disease. Now Bush reminds me of Ozzy Osborne when he speaks.

Politically, it was a bad move.

However, it's also true.

I may actually vote for Obama because of this quote though.  That takes some balls to say something like that.

I thought people only voted for Obama because of his speaking skills?

http://www.gallup.com/poll/106435/Gallu … 50-41.aspx

Gallup Poll Daily tracking for April 10-12 shows Barack Obama continuing to hold a solid lead over Hillary Clinton in national Democratic voters' support for the presidential nomination, 50% to 41%.
The results of the general election trial heats are the same as in previous days, with Obama ahead of McCain 46% to 43% and Clinton up on McCain 46% to 45%. Though both results are within the poll's margin of error, the fact that the Democrats' advantages have held up for several days suggests a high probability that they actually hold a lead in the underlying population of registered voters
Let's see what happens on the 22nd.

You think it's true that the only reason people "cling" to silly little things like their first and second amendment rights is that they're "bitter"?

Seriously?
