OK so I'm looking to upgrade in the not to distant future.

so far this is what i have come up with.

OK, so I'm not sure weather or not the Card, CPU are the best choices. would i be better with a Q6600 and 8800GT?
I'm looking to OC as much as possible!
I also need a good mobo, i was looking at the 750i - 780i which are about £100 - £150. If there are any better options that would be good (obviously -.-)
Currently have 4GB RAM so wont be needing that unless there are some deals on for good stuff

Well, getting a 780i/750i isn't the best idea, nor is it getting a 9800GTX. nVidia isn't doing all too good right now. I suggest that you either stick with what you got for another couple of months, or getting something cheap and temporary (Like an 8800GT) until nVidia gets their stuff sorted.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Ahh ok, thanks

Suppose i could keep my current card for the time being and just go for the cpu and mobo.

What would be a good mobo to buy that will oc well with the Q9300 and has PCIe 2.0 im so shit with stuff like this

Well, PCI-E 2.0 is not a neccesarity by any means for modern graphics cards. Usual PCI-E will do more than well.

With that said, I'd go for a P35-based motherboard, such as the Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3. It's a very popular board that'll do what it's supposed to do, and it tends to OC well. I'm not sure, but I think it requires a BIOS update to work properly with the Q9*00 series, though.

OK, Thanks alot

Just on more thing, do you know if that chip/mobo will oc to the 4Ghz area?

Well, I doubt that you're gonna get a quad to more than about 3.5GHz with any mobo. If you get an E8400, though, I think you can reach it.

Go EVGA with your video card, no matter what you do...if the 9900 GTX/GT200 is what they say it's gonna be, it'll be worth it. EVGA has a stepup program so you trade in your old card, pay only the difference between the old and a newer, more expensive one you want, and have the new card sent to you. So just get an 8800 GTS 512 for now. Or actually, you could probably still stick with the 9800 GTX.

An on air cooling, it's possible to get to 4ghz...but you might overheat.

780i's good, although I'd probably go with an X38 or X48 if I were you unless you're planning on going SLi in the future.

Yeah, that's probably the wisest choice. The 9800 GTX's like 100 bucks more expensive right now with EVGA branded cards.

Hmm on second thought an EVGA 8800GTS G92 is about £200
When a EVGA 9800GTX is about £210, plus the 8800 is only pre order :S

Oh...only that much of a price difference? That's not that bad. In that case, go with the 9800 GTX. There IS still a performance upgrade between the GTS G92 and the 9800 GTX.
