Need help picking out a 775 motherboard. Thinking of going with a q6600. I am not going to go crazy with the overclocking, but I will OC it a bit I'm sure. Leaning towards Gigabyte or ASUS and keeping it in the sub-100 dollar range. I don't mind going over 100 a bit but it seems like you go from under 100 to almost (or over) 200 dollars and I am not interested in that.
hes tlkin about dollars my friend ...utchin wrote:

Can't go wrong with GA-DS3L

I have a DFI Lanparty DK P35 T2RS. I have my Q6600 (G0 stepping) at 3.6ghz.
This board is optimized for quadcores. Even if you won't overclock like I did, it is still a great stable mobo.

I would go with a 650i or 750i board if you're going to OC a little, but not extreme amounts.

A shame Newegg doesn't do the standard GA-P35-DS3.Bell wrote:

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
Do NOT buy a board with cheap PWM if you plan to OC quad. get something like Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R or see how the PWM dies...
I give an example of boad with too cheap and weak PWM for quad cores: the DFI P35 Blood Iron. I have seen way too many of them dying because PWM goes boom under quad core's load. literally BOOM AND SMOKE.

What is PWM?

the abit p35 boards are also a good choice. the pro version is great (the one i have ) but there is a p35 e which is just as good of a board with less bells and whistles.

nvidia chipsets are rather bad for overclocking quads. Unless you need SLI, intel FTW!haffeysucks wrote:

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
