So I am fairly happy with my computer so far, but I wanted to unleash some more of it's potential.
That is why I am thinking about overclocking, but I need some advice and help since I'm pretty new to it.

What I currently have:
ASUS M2N-E motherboard with nForce 570 Ultra chip-set
AMD 64 X2 5000+ (normal edition, not black or something)
400 Watt PSU (good brand, don't know the name anymore)
2x 512MB RAM and 2x 1024MB @ DDR2-553 4-4-4-12 2T

I still have a stock cooler, but I can buy a new one.
I was thinking about the Coolermaster Hyper TX 2, but if you have some other great one you can choose it from this page: http://graficall.nl/Producten~category~ … elers.aspx (but not to expensive please)

After that, how should I overclock it? I think I need to up the FSB from 200.0 to something higher.
But what kind of steps should I take? And what about the V-Core?

Thanks in advance for your replies.

look here for a guide on how to OC the A64. It's for 939 socket based CPUs, but it's pretty much the same on AM2

Up the FSB in increments, then test for stability.  Something like Orthos works well for that.  Do not increase the voltage to the CPU until you run into stability problems.  And no matter what you do, keep an eye on your load temps while testing.  Also note that unless you implement a divider to keep the RAM speeds in check (they increase as you increase the FSB) then you may need to increase the voltage to your RAM as well.
