But really, stoppies are easy as fuck..

You don't need disk brakes, and it doesn't matter if you have shocks or not..

Just make sure your brakes are adjusted well, hit the brake and lean forward, once the back wheel is off the ground, feather the break to keep your rear wheel in the air without going over the bars.
Summed up perfectly.

Listen to this man, even though he went all lazy and got an engine
Aye, he's right.  I've got hydro discs and very good suspension and can do them fine.  You just have to keep practicing and get your weight distribution right.  However, I never need to do stoppies going down a trail right enough.   They aren't essential.  Try and learn how to do manuals.  Very valuable technique that can help you out anywhere.
Agreed with the above posters.

I honestly wonder whether the majority of people in this thread have ever ridden a bike, 'cause the amount of crap being talked is ridiculous.

You should be able to do a stoppie with your cantilever brakes. If you can't, I suggest tightening the brake cable or replacing your brake pad with a longer pad. Talk to someone who works at your local bike store; they will gladly help you out.

Yeh, its still perfectly do-able

You might wanna play around with adjusting the contact to get the maximum use out of your brakes, and apply previous stated tips to pull it off.
