Mine certainly could. I think that they can actually view your screen (almost like LogMeIn) without you knowing. I was banned from school library (where the computers are) for two weeks for evading the filter. When the filter blocks Google images, do you really expect me to do anything else? Also, the url of the actual site you are visiting sometimes appears in the proxy address.

Yep - I didn't know until after the staff "confronted me" as I was leaving the library with a friend: who also did the same thing. My main issue now is that they have blocked all proxy sites that I can find; and there are some legitimate sites that I need on in school which are blocked - for no reason. Even BF2s! srsly though, the administrator wont know what site you were on unless you received content over some other port than 80. if it was an embedded vid, you're ok. if it was streamed, you might get busted. the idea behind a proxy is for the proxy to serve as a relay for internet traffic. it acts as a man-in-the-middle so all of your http requests go to the proxy, which then forward them to the website. from the website it looks like the proxy is requesting the content. the proxy then forwards the http content back to you. BUT, there are other ways for the net admin to track your online doings... but i'm willing to bet he doesn't have anything on you. maybe he's just keeping an eye on you to see if you slip up.
It's not like I am gonna get banned, since it's not a school network. Just a company near my house let me use their network, so I don't have to pay for monthly subscriptions, but they obviously block porn, and the only way, that I know of, is to use proxy servers...
