Okay, so I just ordered this:

And I'm wondering...are there any cables I need to hook up my cable box to it? As far as I've seen, the only thing connecting my cable box to my current shitty CRT TV is a...well, cable. What do I need to make my cable box show in hi-def?

Is the reception actually in HD? Even if you have HDTV, that doesn't mean you can have HD quality.

You have IO right? It has free HD so all you have to do is plug in your cable box and you'll have HD

K, good. But what I'm wondering is...am I going to need any extra cables for the TV?

If the box has HDMI out, then use that.

So, HDMI-HDMI cable. If not, you can use component.

A picture of the available connections maybe ?

for HD your going to need a HD box ( yours is HD ready , not built in )  and a HDMI cable and HD services from your cable provider , make sure you don't get a HDMI cable that is only 6 ft long , <~~~lesson learned , try out walmart/bestbuy/target for there prices.   P.S ,  HD on a LCD in 1081p shows a clean crisp picture , I love it

Do you have an HD cable box capable of outputting in 1080i or 1080p? You will also need an HDMI cable.

Also depends on each individual TV station and what signal there putting out. and cable provider.

I just got this one last month.  It was an upgrade from an old 21 inch CRT, so it kicks ass (especially in comparison).

I'm too cheap to pay for digital cable, so I get only a few HD channels (they look awesome).  But SDTV and my DVDs look great, so I'm happy.

really?

usually on HDTV LCDs, SD TV looks god awful.  like on my 42" Vizio.

Either that, or I'm easy to please.  I can see how SD might look worse on a larger screen -- mine is only a 32 inch.

HD certainly looks a LOT better, but SD is good.  I have only watched 1 DVD that looked like crap (Twins, with Schwarzenegger and DeVito looked atrocious), and the rest all look fine.

A fine choice of TV. Aquos are badass. Just buy an HDMI cable that is rated at 1.3 or 1.3a so you'll end up with the highest bandwidth and clearest picture. I would also suggest going with DirecTV if you want a true high-def experience. High-def cable is poor quality in comparison, and in fact, is only a standard analog signal that has been upconverted to a mixture of digital/analog. You people have to stop robbing yourselves of a real high-def experience with the bullshit that is cable.

That's true.  Check out this comparison of Comcast HDTV and Verizon FiOS HDTV.  Comcast compresses the video, and it looks like crap compared to the uncompressed FiOS signal.

Right now I can't go with anything other than iO Cable...but we have Hi-Def on our big screen 1080i in the living room, and it's pretty damn good.

Also: would this cable work?

Why are you only stuck with iO? For roughly the same price you could go with DirecTV and have 100+ channels in HD instead of 24. To each his own though.

I'm not sure about that cable because I've personally never heard of that brand. The main things you want to look for when purchasing an HDMI cable is this: Does it have gold plated connectors (To prevent errosion and signal dissipation), does it have ferrite cores (To limit interference), and is it supporting the newest HDMI technology (1.3a). If you want a professional opinion then order one of these:

http://www.monoprice.com/products/produ … escription

You pay $159 for this very same cable at Best Buy. They're called the Monster M-Series... which actually don't even have a ferrite cores. Most people don't realize just how much audio/visual cables are marked up. Spend less than $10 bucks and get one of the best HDMI cables available, if not the best. You deserve it. Enjoy.

I have been on the lookout for a place to buy cheap cables.  Awesome website.  Thanks!
