Past a certain point at night.

I've been living in a shitty college town for the past 4 years and I can't stand this shit. Every fucking suburban white kid thinks buying the loudest, crappiest subwoofers for their car is the coolest thing to do. I wouldn't have such a big problem for it either if they had any respect for the people around them. But no, they still blast that shit when they come home at 1, 2, 3, 4... 5 in the morning. Half the time drunk. Cops need to start pulling these dumbasses over and ticketing them.

This rant may or may not have to do with the fact that my neighbors are pissing me off with their shitty music right now at 12:30 at night.

There probably are ordinances regarding sound that they are violating. Call the cops if you are really pissed. Otherwise, what can you do?

I'm talking about on vehicles. Not on homes. I know there are laws regarding sound at home.

And yes, I have called the cops on these neigbors before, twice this year.

Seriously though, the cops won't help? If I was closer I could complain as well, but alas I don't think they would buy it seeing how I live over on Haynes.

On this side, they almost never drive though with the music cranked. Highland is only a block away, and yet no problem. You just live on the wrong side.

Oh I actually brainstormed an idea for this a while ago. How hard would it be to have traffic lights that could detect that low bass frequency from far away? Now... what if that light stayed red until the person turned the bass down? I'm sure that's got problems, but it could be worked with...

The closest light is about a quarter mile up a hill and the street winds through some light woods.

I have a 1976 landcruiser that sets off car alarms, I don't think I like your idea. Exhaust noise only, not loud, just deep resonating tone.

Go to town hall and ask about noise bylaws.

Where I live there is a noise bylaw saying nothing loud after midnight. I've seen the cops 'come a knocking' when a party gets too rambunctious. I've also seen the cops stop kids blaring the music in their cars and warn them they could be sited for driving with undue care and attention (can't hear sirens or other vehicles horns). Don't think I've heard of anyone actually getting ticketed though.

Back on topic, ReTox has the right idea. The ordinance in my city is 10:00 PM. They'll go over and warn them, but don't give tickets unless it's a repeat offender. They don't tell them who complained either, so don't be worried about retribution.
