Not too sure about John Wayne movies. Unless they are particularly good. There's 170 odd movies that he's appeared in from that link, not all of which are westerns, if anyone could narrow down that list, it'd help. lol

Yeah, that's what I figured, but I wouldn't mind seeing any others that are worth watching.

Unforgiven. It won a freakin Oscar, for crying out loud. An outstanding movie, Western or no.

And why wasn't "Blazing Saddles" listed under Comedy Westerns? I can't believe you dissed The Villain...

Surprised nobody has mentioned Back to the Future Part III, tbh.

I've seen The Magnificent Seven, but thought that The Seven Samurai was a far better movie, although not a Western.

But that's a great list of movies. Should keep me busy for awhile. Much appreciated.

I watched 3:10 last night and thought it was awesome.  Being a bit of a movie fan I have tried to watch 'conventional' westerns but just don't enjoy them, I think it's an age (and perhaps culture) thing.

Another modern western which no-one has mentioned is 'The Proposition' with Ray Winstone.  It is different in the fact that it is set in British colonial Australia, and it was an awesome twist on the conventional western.  if you enjoyed 3:10 I reckon you will like that.
Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known.

I freaking hate westerns, but I've consistently heard great things about Unforgiven as has already been mentioned.  Don't watch No Country for Old Men for the record ... it'll piss you right the #$%& off ...

Although many of you have mentioned a lot of good western movies, you are missing a good series: Lonesome Dove

That movie was great. And the Westerns I've watched so far have been too. I don't mind watching a few average movies, but I know there can be some bad ones out there, so thought I'd ask here.
