I'm on the right track, then. I've never been a fan of vitamins anyway though. I'd prefer to get the actual food ones instead of Flinstones-shaped delivery systems.
Ditto. I'm completely going to rub this in the face of my friend who thinks he's super healthy because he takes about 10 of them a day. It is impressive watching him swallow them in one go though. Some of them are massive. I've told him he'll make a good AIDS patient.DesertFox- wrote:

This is why I never listen to health fads, because a couple of years later everything they said that was super for you turns out to be a deathtrap of some sort.
Meh. I still take two Cod liver oil tablets a day. Not so I live longer, but because the various vitamins etc.. actually do help your body. And I know that I don't get it all naturally from food, so why not?
I just make sure I eat well, its not hard.

Precisely why I take my vitamins. I'm not under any illusion I'll live longer and they do benefit the body.Mek-Stizzle wrote:

Nice to know. I take 1 Q10 and 1 Multivitamin with ginsing. Might change that now.

It HAS however been demonstrated that taking your vitamins DO increase your resistance to infection and can increase energy levels. As such, your quality of life is certainly improved. Additionally, it could easily be argued as a secondary impact in that if you're less likely to get sick in the first place, you're less likely to have complications due to said illness or contract further illness as a result of being worn down from the first. FURTHERmore, there's a placebo factor to consider. Your mind has an amazing level of control over your body. If you think it's doing you some good, then it probably is in this case. And lastly, there has also been research suggesting that studies relatted to mortality and illness are invariably skewed due to the stress of the individuals within the test as a function OF the test.
So yeah ... I've uh, I've got some vitamins to take.

Vitamin C keeps me happy. I don't get sick nearly as much as I used to.
But I'm all for the diet aspect of that article.

Vitamin supplements help and are not a substitute

Vit C seems to help me clear up colds.
But that's probably 'cos I get it from oranges.

I eat the childrens vitamins because they taste good not for health. I usually eat nearly five even though recommended 1.
I believe this study looked at high dose supplements, and your average 'one a day' vitamin 'caplet' is probably fine.
So, if you take A LOT, you might want a rethink, but if not, they're probably doing you more good than harm.
