I loved being an E-5. good bye to the PFT, except when you had a dickhead Platoon Commander then your Fit-Rep. was terrible. The problem I feel is the bare minimum.. 3 pulls, 60 situps and 28 minutes for 3 miles. First off, even in Irak and the Ghan I didn't run three miles. A mile and half or a mile would be more suitable. Second of all, just like my bitch about the Montana State police officer's standards, you sure as fuck don't run down a criminal wearing tennis shoes (go fasters!) and shorts. They should ditch the current PFT in favor of a this new test, but add a few more events. I knew a Marine that could score a perfect PFT but couldn't handle a combat load during a 25Kilo hike.
What sense does that make?
*edit* My old platoon sergeant always said. If you can't do 100 situps in the Corps.. you don't have a friend.
