What is it about every single recent movie that's come out about the American old west that makes me yawn? How hard could it be to watch all the old greats and figure out what made them so good? Instead, we have glorified soap operas.

NCFOM is fucking amazing. But if you want a great modern western movie, go with Tombstone (well, not exactly modern as the 00's, but still recent). Tombstone is pretty much the end-all to western movies.
