It looked to me like the people were thankful the conductors managed to squeeze them on, it's possible that the scene in the video is just as common to them as when there's no seats left on a UK bus. I think if they didn't want to get shoved in, they shouldn't stand at the front of a 15 person queue to get on a train with maybe 5 spaces left to stand.max wrote:

Japanese people are really passive. If anyone pushed someone like that on an NYC subway, I guarantee a bitch would get slapped. The problem we have here is, when people get on the train they don't move to the middle, they just stay by the doors. The trains are always crammed by the doors and nearly empty in the middle.

Probs what happens is exactly what happens in London, noone will leave till they get to a major stop at which point everyone will get off.
What they need to do is make all the seats the foldup kind, and lock them folded up during rush hour so everyone is forced to stand. Should be more than enough room then, assuming the tube comes every 2-3 minutes.
