- What's the largest paper or body of academic work you've undertaken?
18 pages?! Did you have lots of diagrams? I'm sure mine wasn't far over 12, and that was literally 5 words under the limit.konfusion wrote:
18-page essay is the worst I've had so far - and that was my IB Extended Essay. I guess I'll see some real writing in uni.

Various 10-page research papers for history. I've got another one due in a few weeks and quite frankly it makes me want to not take history next year.
Alot
I hate doing work, but when I do it, I do it well

40 page Geography coursework and a 30 page business studies coursework (memory is a bit off but the average in the year was something along those lines).
just 10-12 page papers...but they're painful enough. I had to turn in a 10-12 page paper for history (mine was really 8.5 pages) a few weeks ago,and had to stay up til 4 am to finish it .Luckily, I got a 100 like most of the people in the class .(except they started it like 2 months in advance hehe)
6800 words on the origins of the Cold War.
40 something pages on the social and economic conditions of Germany.
27 pages on the Sydney Harbour Bridge (but I cheatered... there's like 10 pages of pictures ).

400 page IT project, about 30000 words i think. Total bullshit project, takes the entire year.
Hmm...I've written a 15 page paper on M.C. Escher and a 13 page paper on René Magritte, both for separate Art History courses. Wrote 13 pages on Stephen Hawking several years ago. Nothing crazier than that, unless you count the Time it took to write essays...having to write 4 3-page essays for a US History AP test in high school after answering 200+ questions and answering 3 Document Based Questions...that was 3 hours of pure hell.
6th grade wrote a 72 page book. time travel stuff, i read it now and laugh, no cohesion. In college i took a brewing course, and wrote a paper on how to brew beer@ about 12000 words
Research paper back in 2000 on the future of petroleum, alternative fuels, and specifically biodiesel.
I don't remember how many words but it came out to 30 pages of text, 1.5 spaced, size 12 font, Times New Roman. For three years after that I knew everything there was to know about alternative diesel fuel. Thankfully, I've forgotten most of it.

47 page report on all of the US presidents. It took me sitting at the computer, typing for a month strait. I spent every waking moment at school or typing that cursed essay. When I turned it in, I found out that everyone else in my class had copied and pasted essays of the internet.
this was for 8th grade history

60 pages.
It's not allways about volume. I had to read a 2 page paper from 2 aerodynamics engineers from Airbus. It took me 1 month to understand it.
I wouldn't want to play chess with those guys.

I've just completed and submitted a 15000 word write-up on VoIP which represents my final piece of academic work for the forseeable future. I freaking hate this system, but the damn piece of paper I'm now entitled to should bring more money. Not that it represents and knowledge gained as a result of the degree mind you - I did that on my own in the real world of course. [/rant]
I was just curious what some of the rest of you had undertaken in acadamia.
