Cheerleader on the right warn us of dire economic ruin if either dem gets elected.
We know what the republicans have brought.

Federal debt under Bush:

09/30/2007 $9,007,653,372,262.48
09/30/2006 $8,506,973,899,215.23
09/30/2005 $7,932,709,661,723.50
09/30/2004 $7,379,052,696,330.32
09/30/2003 $6,783,231,062,743.62
09/30/2002 $6,228,235,965,597.16
09/30/2001 $5,807,463,412,200.06
09/30/2000 $5,674,178,209,886.86

Currently, the total debt outstanding is $9,250,932,577,938.04.

To put that in perspective, debt as a percentage of GDP has increased from 57.29% in 2001 to 64.47% in 2007. That's a solid and steady increase.

Now -- the Republicans have created a meter on their website to track the increases in government spending. You guys ran the government for 6 years. You had complete control. YOU GOT US INTO THIS MESS IN THE FIRST PLACE. SHUT THE FUCK UP.

McCain is going to give generous amnesty to illegal aliens. Obama will give free health care and generous amnesty to illegal aliens.

But at least we might stop pissing away everything

We've ran a debt nearly our entire existence.

A debt is normal. A debt this big, one could argue, is a "mess".

It's been much worse. (When adjusting for inflation.)

The President has faced two wars, the costliest|hurricanes in history, and corporate|scandals. Also remember Bush inherited the economy as it was going into recession. No one mentioned the economy a couple years ago when unemployment was low (4.6), the Dow was approaching 14k, interest rates were low, inflation was low..etc. The Dems have had control of Congress for quite some time now (Congress controls spending). I'm just asking for a little perspective. They are both just as guilty in my eyes.

Yes, but we know now that the so called good times of a couple of years ago was all a facade, a house of cards, riding on lies and deception.

a certain amount of debt actually makes a firm more valuable.  i assume the same is true for a country.

So it would seem. As does the Clinton Years. And the pendulum continues to swing.

As you said, it has been considerably worse when looking at debt as a % of GDP.

McCain's numbers don't add up.

Unless the Fed isn't abolished it will lead to...

...this continuing to fall.

I wonder when all the shit hits the fan, and it will once the bond market bubble bursts, that some people will blame their ills on illegal Mexicans and shoot them.
