I have a movie that has a resolution that looks pretty crappy on fullscreen, but fine when it takes up about 1/2 to 2/3 of the screen.  Normally I would just play this on WMP but for some stupid reason it wont work, it will only open on VLC.  The problem I have with VLC is that I want the actual program to take up the entire screen, but without putting the movie in fullscreen.  If if try to downsize the movie, the entire program is downsized as well.  Is there any way to keep VLC player in fullscreen, but keep the actual movie at a smaller size?

It might not sound like a big thing, but its actually really annoying to see your background while you're trying to watch a movie.

I'm guessing its Dolby sound or another one of them.

Search for Video and Sound Codecs.

And no, you can't create the whole background big enough - my suggestion = black wallpaper and hide taskbar.

Just to let you know, that would stretch the video, which would reduce the quality.  You'd be better off just temporarily lowering the resolution unless quality isn't that important to you.

I know that reduces the quality, but i normally watch videos on 200% size in WMP and it looks perfectly fine
