@winston: 17, been running since i was 8, but i mostly just run for fun now. my broskies the serious runner: he's 15 and ran a 4:30 1600m and a 9:56 (slow for him) 32 today.

i assume you're primarily a track runner (as opposed to XC) though since your distance runs are so short. that hard workout with the 2k looks absolutely brutal though.

what are your race times?

edit: @argo. its not bullshit. i could walk three miles in 25. jogging has nothing to do with speed. its all about lifting. when you  walk you have one foot on the ground at all times. when you run you have both feet in the air most of the time. pay attention the next time you do it and you'll see what i mean.

Yes. Dear God yes.

Run moar. Alot moar. Run as long as you can, don't mind the burning legs run untill your lungs give up.

I say do a 3 mile first see if you can do that, normal jogging speed.

Also do push ups, sit ups and pull ups.

OH JESUS PUT THAT THING AWAY.

But anyways. Don't be lazy, don't make excuses. Too many people do that and they will never accomplish anything in life. Also cut down on bad foods. There are healthy things that are tasty. (Yes I know its shocking).

Stick with it, being healthy is a life style, its not like lose 20 pounds and then say ooh ima go back to eating bad food and being lazy. You will be back to square one.
What are some healthy foods that are tasty?
Dried fruits are the nicest things ever, I eat dried mango all the time and its nicer than any sweet ive tried.

Don't worry man... if you haven't done any serious running before, what did you expect? When I started working out a month ago... boy was I sore. I remember after my first biceps day (Wednesday)... I was feeling it into Sunday lmao.

Keep working out. As others have said, working out is a life style. Work hard. The journey to get to where you want is hard... but staying there once you get there isn't quite as hard.

As for foods... this is what I like to eat... I'm trying to bulk up so you just have to eat less amounts since it seems you want to burn some fat. Eat 6 times a day (smaller meals though). For example: 730AM, 9 or 1030 AM, noon-ish, 330 PM, dinner around 630 or 7, and I myself have some cottage cheese before bed. It really isn't that bad

Cottage cheese
Whole wheat NATURAL peanut butter sandwich (Natural Peanut Butter is actually very tasty and doesn't have any trans fats. Just be careful with how much you put on)
FISH (tuna and salmon are essentially win. Find some good recipes because they are simply awesome)
Nuts... peanuts, almonds, pistachios... they're good to eat. Just don't eat TOO much though... they're a "mindless" food... you can easily go through an entire package if you're just playing games and eating.
Soy crisps... they're decent tasting... low in calories... but again a "mindless" food so take caution
Whole grain bagels with salmon (delicious)
Sweet potatoes (I like them mashed)
Skim milk

If you're eating grainy foods, get them whole. Pretty much everything can be gotten whole these days. Bread? Whole. Bagels? Whole. Cereal? Whole. Pasta? Whole (I recommend "Barilla Plus"). If you still wanna eat cereal, I recommend "Kashi GoLean!" (the Crunch version is a bit tastier, although it has a bit more sugar and a bit less protein).

That's just a general idea. Again, just eat a bit less and exercise more. You'll get faster and you'll burn fat. Once you reach your target bodyfat percentage... hit the weights... there's something nice about being able to eat more food than usual in the name of building up muscle

edit: Yes I also suck at running something I definitely need to work on.

@ ender  alright, i see what you mean. I'm really not that into speedwalking or racewalking, whatever it's called. When I walk, I just walk, really haven't paid attention to maximing my speed without lifting.
