The serach button was not working so I am not sure if there is already a topic on this but, for the hockey fans here what is your opinion on Marty not shaking Averys hand at the end of the series.
Shaking his hand would be a sign of respect, imo, and Marty shouldn't have any respect for him, many people don't. Any other goalie would've dropped him when he was waving in front of him like an idiot.
I don't even care cause Jersey shoulda won
Srsly, best team in the league, Avery should be martys bitch.

Mortal brodeur is mortal
Shitty devils offence is shitty
They should have learned by now that todays NHL does not let defensive teams be as successful as they used to be. You would get a goal and shut down the offence with lots of jabbing and clearing. Now that referees call hooking for FUCKING EVERYTHING, instead the defense is forced to stand by and let the ovechkins and crosbys do all the fancy shit that would have been impossible pre-lockout. What is one thing in common with the last 2 stanley cup champions? Each were offensive powerhouses. The teams in the finals? Same thing. The conference finals? Same thing. The stats speak for themselves, and Jersey should have added a few scorers in the offseason, because i could easily see them winning the president by 10+ points and reaching the finals.
I can easily see the whole Avery situation becoming a scapegoat for Jerseys shortcomings. Instead of blaming inconsistent goaltending, a lackluster offence, or the fact the rangers were just a better team; its like blaming lag for failing at Counterstrike. Might i remind you that no goal came out of the event, if anything it got into the minds of jersey players which caused them to lose. And if thats the case they have no one but themselves to blame for letting Avery affect them over such a minor incident.

I don't like how Avery gets away with this. I wish Jersey still had Scott Stevens to fucking nail Avery. I like Avery's style of play (work ethic) but he's a total dickhead.
Marty's a classy guy and he was obviously upset. I don't mind because I'd be upset in his position aswell.

He called Marty "fatso". You just don't fucking do that. I was pissed about the stick waving thing to begin with, but now he goes and insults possibly the greatest goaltender of all time? Go die, Avery.
He's the biggest punk in the fucking world. Sean Avery deserves to die a horrible death.
Oh, and GO STARS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes, avery is a prick. Never liked him and never will. But i will hate Brodeur more if he lowers himself to Avery's level and solely blames him for failjersey's failing. Im sorry, but a guy waving a stick in your face for one shift doesnt cause you to have a GAA of 4 for the entire series.

The media is making a bigger deal out of this than it is. Brodeur is one of the best goalies to ever play the game...and what do you need to do to him to win? Take him off his game. Brodeur played like absolute shit this entire series. Avery did a good job of staying out of the box and contributing on the score sheet. IMO, Avery did a perfect job of doing exactly what he's supposed to do...distract Brodeur, cause a distraction to other Devils' players, and get under his opponent's skin.
Avery was spot on when he said that people call him classless, but that what Brodeur did was equally as classless. I'm not saying Avery is classy by any means, but he was perfectly accurate in his assessment of Brodeur.
You guys might not like what he does...but he's the best instigator in the game. At the time, what Avery did was perfectly legal.
New Jersey never should've let Avery get to Brodeur like that. Their defensemen let him give it to Brodeur, both physically and verbally all series long.
Honestly, at the end of the day...good on Avery. He followed the rules, he pitched in a few goals, he stayed out of the penalty box...and on the bottom line, all I see is "Rangers advance to the next round."

Scott Stevens would have ripped Sean Avery's head off and shit down his neck, a la Duke Nukem style.
...and he would've gotten a penalty for it...and Avery would've done his job.Poseidon wrote:

This guy is a new Esa Tikkanen He fucked up Martys concentration and now Marty is all pissy about it and can't take it like a man? The best goalie in the world could do a bit better than this. I say a job well done Sean! Except for having a relationship with Elisha Cuthberthtthththth. That I won't forgive you.
And he wouldn't have given a shit. He stuck up for his teammates. You wouldn't see Johnny Oduya doing that. Avery would be knocked out of the game. And actually, he probably wouldn't have. Stevens was an incredibly smart player who probably would've found a way to do it legally.ThomasMorgan wrote:

A clean hit and a concussion to Avery would have worked out (hockeys a contact sport you know).I don't blame Avery for Jersey's shittyness...I just dislike him.ThomasMorgan wrote:

Neither do I. Jersey's shittiness came from Jersey being...well, shitty. Nobody's using Avery as a scapegoat. He's just a cunt.csmag wrote:

The refs should have enforced the rules because what Avery did IS against the rules. The penalty for doing what he was doing is a game misconduct.
No powerplay, just a 'go to your corner until you learn to play with honour'
No powerplay, just a 'go to your corner until you learn to play with honour'
A misconduct penalty shall be imposed on any player who persists in any course of conduct (including threatening or abusive language or gestures or similar actions) designed to incite an opponent into incurring a penalty.
If, after the assessment of a misconduct penalty, a player persists in any course of conduct for which he was previously assessed a misconduct penalty, he shall be assessed a game misconduct penalty.

Is it really? I thought there were penalties handed out every time someone hit someone?csmag wrote:

I believe he was warned and he didn't stop.

He wasn't assessed a misconduct penalty, so he definitely shouldn't have been assessed a game misconduct.Stubbee wrote:

Also, in that instance of a "misconduct penalty", gestures refers to derogatory gestures like giving someone the middle finger. It does not pertain to actions related to playing the game. This is why the league further clarified the rule. At the time, there was no clear-cut definition on what was screening and what wasn't. What Avery did wasn't breaking the rules.
Also, if you want to be technical, a "course of conduct designed to incite an opponent into incurring a penalty" could also be perceived as skating around a player, forcing him to hook you or hold you, fighting a player (forcing him to drop his gloves and take a roughing or fighting penalty), or taking a breakaway. Any of these could, technically, be a "course of conduct designed to incite an opponent into incurring a penalty."
Players are warned all the time. Players are warned to move the puck along the boards...it doesn't mean they're given a delay of game penalty. Players are warned when the play is offsides...or when it's going to be icing...again, just because someone is warned doesn't mean it's automatically a penalty.Stubbee wrote:

Besides, you, nor anyone else, has any idea what the referee was saying.
The Rangers may be my team, and while for some odd reason Avery is our good luck charm, but I hate the guy. Sather should have never acquired him.
