This, like the Z06 will have the same problem of being quick as hell round a track, but hopeless at everything else. Crusing to the track is just as important to the customers as storming round it. Anyone can build a quick car, pulling off that flip side of the coin is what makes a car special. And, for $100,000/£50,000 I wouldnt expect my flash sports car's centre console to be made out of the same plastic they have in tic tacs (richard hammonds words).

But that is me...I don't need seat warmers, in fact....my back against the seat will always be warmer then my front...so if its cold enough to need a heated seat I have my heater on...and high enough to make that heated seat cook my back.
Thomas is right, you can have a civic/240/miata/rx7/ect that will smoke a 911 or whatever around a track for an amazingly small fraction of its price...But it will loose so much comfort most wont want to deal with it....To make something fast and nice costs money. As you make it nicer, you likely make it slower, and as you make it faster you likely make it less comfortable.
It takes a lot of engineering to ignore this trade off and move ahead with both...and you pay for that with these nicers cars. Any car is a balance of performance comfort and cost and the correct balance is really only determined by the person driving it. The corvette simply aspires to be first closest on the performance, then cost, then comfort...and I for one am glad, There are lots of people who want a car like that and for them the Vette is an amazing choice. Sure you get plastics...Its both cheaper and lighter then other options (and very much inline with the intent of the vehicle. I have never been nailing the gas out of a turn thinking "man I like oak".
That being said we ARE talking about sports cars...The name itself tells you what it is about, sport. All you people shopping for sports cars and complaining it doesn't have the finest leather, that the ride is bumpy, that you can hear the noises the car makes...

Ok, if it makes you feel better I’ll dress up the interior with some of the 140K I have left from choosing the Vette instead of the laundry list of slower European cars that cost at least twice the sticker price.
