I'm fairly disappointed with ATi driver support. This was the last thing that made me think... WHyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy?!?!!?!?!?!?!?

pic of stuttering going on in BF2142 making it unplayable. This was supposed to be fixed already ffs!

soooo...

I don't want SLi mobo. I really don't want nforce chipset again.

9800GX2 has very bad power connector issues... I don't want to start modding my PSU cables ffs.

CrossfireX.... meeeeeeh.

Single nv cards...
8800GTS/GTX... doesn't sound so great... getting pretty big performance hit if I go single...

single ATi cards...
not gonna happen...

both companies being ridiculous atm, I have no idea what to get. And Elite's problems with the GX2... maybe I should sell my ATi cards and play old games with my X800XT PE and buy a new card next year after army... I dunno...

Stuttering in 2142? that problem isn't in all games, right? Because as of now lots of people with 8800gt's (me included) have to put up with really low-quality or even missing AA. It makes games so ugly. Your current ATI rig is probably still the best way to go

meh I had 8800GTX SLi and it blew too...

I have flickering issues in couple games... stuttering in Crysis and BF2142... BF2 SF is unplayable in night maps because of issues with nightvision and flashbangs.

I don't have any problems with my 8800GTS G92 setup, only thing that dissapionts me is that I can't run Crysis with 8x AA and everything on Very High with the XP mod.

IN genberal, the problem is, that not every game is optimized for SLI or Crossfire. BF2 and 2142 are by standards old games that were rendered with the 6600xx and 7800xx, that was a time when SLI was still in kidshoe's but when you look at the newer games like CoD4 and CoH, they have a 10-30% boost when playing in SLI or CF. So it's not your hardware that fails, it's the fact that older games are shitting bricks when encountering SLI or CF with the cards from last year. and this year.

trust me I have tried new games... the problem is NOT scaling... that goes pretty well. it is the problems I have had with SLi and crossfire that I don't like.

What's to like about problems.

Every SINGLE card can handle any game (except Crysis) but the older games (and Crysis) shit bricks when they are run under SLI or CF, not to mention everybody's idea: 'Ooooo, when I get the money to Quad SLI my 9900GX2's in 5 years I will be able to play Crysis with everything loaded with a staggering 60fps.'

It's just not gonna happen, every card or setup has it's ups and downs.

The problem is the powerplay bug not crossfire scaling! means 2D clocks under 3D load. it has absolutely nothing to do with that ^^

still don't get it? I just installed catalyst 8.3 hotfix driver and it works without problems. (there is no powerplay bug). so wtf you are talking about.
!?!!??!!

edit: I'm trying to figure out why the fix doesn't work in the catalyst 8.4...
actually I contacted AMD about this...

I finally got intelligent answer from AMD support...

"8.4 drivers dont have the hotfix code in, it usually takes a few months for that code to get merged into the mainline code."

now they told me after I spent a week trying to figure out the problem...
