i spent about 15 minutes trying to open up a can of corn with the can opener on my pocket knife. it didnt work so in the end i just cut the top with my knife. does anyone here know how to use the can opener?

You have to hold it so the "blade" is almost parallel to the lid and the notch hooks on to the side of the lid. Try going straight on to it, then push the blade against the top of the can, then turning until you hit the rim. Make sure it's hooked and make one little dig at a time, going all the way around the perimeter.
He gets down to business at about 3 minutes into it. Enjoy your corn!
