Ok, firstly, I wasn't sure, where to post this guide. But, since most PS3 owners check "Other Titles", rather than "Tech". I decided to put this here. If a MOD feels that this needs to be in a tech section - then go ahead and move it.

There are alot of people here, who don't own a HDTV, and want to connect their PS3's to their monitors. However, most monitors don't have speakers. So, here is a guide of how to get the sound, by simply using your PC speakers.

1) You need the composite cable. Sony supplies those cables with the PS3, or even the PS2.

Here is a picture of what the cable looks like:

https://specialtech.co.uk/spshop/files/detail/PS2--S-Video-Cable.jpg

You connect this to the PS3.

Now, at the other end of this cable, there are three colors. You ignore the yellow one, as this one is for picture and not sound. And, since you are going to use HDMI-DVI, you won't need this.

2) Purchase a cable that has a male headphone port on one end and two female RCA ports on the other.

3) Connect the Red and White ends in the composite cable to the splitter shown above.

4) Now, purchase female to female changer adapter. Whatever you called it:

Connect this to the splitter shown at stage 2.

5) Connect the PC speakers to the other end of the adapter show at stage 4.

Also if you have your PC next to the monitor (which you probably will) and you happen to have a decent sound card you can use that to output to speakers.

Your RCA -> 3.5mm headphone adapter picture is wrong, you actually show just a Y splitter.
This is what he meant...

But less adapters is better, and I bet you can find one of these just as easily?

My post motherfucker.

r'EE the same things as he said in the original post, but all in one piece..

using the Playstations RCA cables you hook the red and white into that thing, and you then plug it into the line in/mic jack on your computer. If you want to hook the speakers directly into it, with out a computer buy a 3.5mm male to male adapter...(I don't think they make RCA Male to 3.5mm female)

Well, the second picture you posted is similar to mine. But yours don't have wire:

Those are the same, yes?

But, I don't get this:

No, top one pictured has RCA the male end of an RCA attached to its input, and plugs into a female 3.5mm jack.

Second one plugs into a 3.5mm headphone slot, and has 2 3.5mm outputs (basicly so 2 headphones can hook into one source, don't use these for mixing two sources) This isn't really any kind of adapter just splits a signal into two

Third one is from a 3.5mm jack to a female RCA cable, you can go in either direction with this one...not an insainly useful adapter unless your going from like RCA outputs on something to a 3.5mm input (or other way around) and have a headphone extension cable.

The RCA's on the PS plug have a male end obviously so while you could use the third one above, with 2 male to male RCA adapters you would just be making the same thing as the first one shown.
