Nine Inch Nails are awesome. They're the only band I've ever traveled to another country to to see play live (although I'm going to England to see Stanley Clarke next month). I also caught them when they played Dublin last year too. I should be getting my Ghosts album in the post soon!
I'd say the biblical thing had a part to play in the choice of name...he does like to sing about God every now and again (not in a positive way).
Has anyone else ever watched the film he made to go along with the Broken EP? He got in a bit of trouble over it years ago when the FBI thought parts of it were taken from an actual snuff movie! It was completely banned for years but I think most of it is available in segments on YouTube now.
