Headphones, What to get?

Well, my current one has broken, my right speaker is gone.
now im looking for a new one, but with a microphone.
Now I see an USB-Headset, What is the difference between normal and USB-Headsets?
and which one should I get, because I can never get my microphone to work.

Microphone headphones are usually crap IMO, get one without a microphone and a proper microphone on a stand.

Not got them headphones (yet) meself, but heard very good things about them.

And I've never heard a good thing said about USB headsets.

Get some proper headphones and a clip-on mic, headsets suck. The mic usually breaks and the sound quality is poor. Try the sennheiser HD555, great sound quality for music and gaming. Then get a clip-on zalman mic and you're good to go

With a USB headset you are using a different sound driver (i.e. if you had a good sound card you would not be using it) so it has the chance to be a little harder on your CPU. Traditional headphones will work with your existing sound hardware.

Yes it can use more CPU since the sound device is all software driven.

If you have "problems" with analog, you're going to kick yourself in the nuts with USB. Endless problems.

Yes, sometimes my mic input is a little soft, but that's just a good reason to YELL.

my usb headset fails. i cant install SP1 for vista because it stops working, and i'm pretty much wasting my audigy2 when i use the headset. USB ftl.
