works fine, using the SCART connection as we speak before I get my HD tv.

GTA IV still looks kick ass.

Graphics still look awesome. Although it matters if you have a good quality SDTV, that's also not to big. e.g: My Toshiba 15" SD makes games look so fucking awesome. Sometimes better than screenshots because everything is so smooth with hardly any aliasing or flicker. Whereas on my crappy-make downstairs 20" TV, it doesn't look as good. And on my other main downstairs 28" SDTV, which is top of the range, it looks awesome, but you notice jaggies more. Cos it's bigger.

The graphics are still amazingly good. All PS3 games can be played on a regular TV, theres no such thing as a TV specific game.

I think he means PS2/1 games?
For backwards compatability the 40 gig will not play PS2 but will play PS1....

I HAVE HEARD that the 60 will play most PS2, and the 80 plays some? Who wants to play PS2 games when you have a PS3 and GTA4?

while GTA4 is awesome most new games arnt that great, and i miss my PS2

also i think the 60 plays most PS2 games and the 80 plays more than the 60

the only major difference i have found about HDTV's and SDTV's and the PS3, is that if you install linux on it, it has a shit resolution on an SD
but that probably wont matter to you, or most people

Hmmm..
What I had gathered was that to cover all the PS2 games it takes having a couple different chips in it? It had seemed to me that the 40 only came with PS1 compatibility cause its a POS, the 60 buys you a little more disc space and those chips for PS2 emulation, then the 80 only came with one/some of the necessary chip as a cost savings measure so it will only play some.

Again, random internet knowledge so who knows if that is true...The price difference for the HD space shouldn't be that much, so it kinda would make sense that the chips were excluded to drop the cost of the 60 gig low enough to make it a viable option compared to the 80...so you may be right.

Okay im in the same situation, i want to get GTA but i need to get a console. I was looking for a xbox 360 Pro or a PS3 40Gb ... Someone told me that xbox pro had some bug but the Elite version was all good, so i should go with elite ( 100$ more). So i think i will go with the PS3 since i can get it for 400$ no tax and the xbox pro would cost me 350 + tax .

And i also wanted to know if the ''Online'' for  PS3 was good? And how much it cost and is it wireless capable?

Thanks for answering my question, im still thinking about both PS3 and Xbox360 ...

The bug that you are referring to is the claim that elites dont RROD which is a total lie. My brother got a RROD 2 days after he got it for christsmas, which was after the changes were made to the console.

Sounds to me like the PS3 is your cheaper option.
