better airflow is always good. I have like 7 fans in my case and they are all so quiet that once when i powered my system on i thought i didn't press the on button so i pressed it again and the PC rebooted. My monitor was off and the PC was really quiet, i couldn't hear it.PBAsydney wrote:
Meh, then I'd have to route more cables to the 5.25 bay.
I got 4 hard drives in that lower cage, and they are all very happy.
I'll tie the fan up there though. Should provide my case with more airflow.
Only thing that makes noise in my PC are the hard drives..Sup wrote:

So, I'll put the fan up there, I'll report in the ghetto thread when I'm done
Then you need to get what i have. Zalman HDD cooler. Not only it cools down your HDD a bit, it also has rubber pads that silent your HDD and prevent damage. + it has anti static wire.P+BAsydney wrote:

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

They are all mounted on silicon pads.
It's the spinning disk that makes the noise, not the drive vibrating.
Anyway, it's only audible when I'm trying to sleep with my PC on, it's just a slight buzzing sound.

Oh, and the Scythe kama wouldn't fit anyway, I have 3 5.25 bays free at the back, but at the front only two, my fan controller is there.
antistatic wire? The drive is grounded over the PSU.Sup wrote:

Why does Zalman bundle the wire with the cooler then? Just to be 100% safe i guess.max wrote:

I'd reverse your HD's and mount the fan on the 3.5in bays. It would provide airflow for your GFX/CPU/MB
to make you pay a couple of $ for something ....Sup wrote:

You don't need an anti-static wire. The drive won't produce any static and even if it did, it's grounded though the power cable

The front intake fan is a Scythe Ultrakaze though, it's amazing, and it's extremely quiet at 5v using my fan controller
