Hmmm, it seems like I am at a real dillemma here. I've been contemplating whether to get a new gaming PC, which would replace my three and a half year old Dell pos (which I'm not planning on upgrading which cannot be upgraded and has a broken GPU), OR an HDTV and an 80gb Playstation 3.

I would get the Playstation3 for:

MGS4
GTAIV
FFXIII
RE5
and possibly COD4.

I've owned all the playstation consoles to date and had a blast with all the (few) games that i've played, and I've kept up with the series of the games listed above so far... I guess you could put me in the "fanboy" category.

Now, I'm positive I'm going to get that TV sooner or later, but if I get a PC I will delay that for quite some time.

So, an 80gb PS3 would go for about $500-600 + a $1000 TV, that would equal just about $1,600.

I want a PC because......... well, it's a PC. 'Nuff said there imo. I miss my gaming days, but that takes up a lot of time which I don't quite have anymore, due to work, school, and all that other crap kids are into these days. I currently am quite happy with my laptop, which is useful for keeping up to date with stuff and chatting, but that's about where it ends. My online buddies say this is an easy decision, but I just can't pass up on the games that I've listed above that easily.

I am willing to shell out $2,000 for a new PC btw.

That is a tough one.  I guess it really depends on what you want the most right now and what type of games you are into for the PC.  GTA IV, apparently, will hit the PC sooner or later.  All the others, except CoD4 of course, aren't slated for the PC.  Me, personally, I would get the console and the games and work on the PC when there are better games out.  I am a FPS guy and don't see any games out for the PC in the next few months that are worth buying.

Edit:Plus, an HDTV can do more than just play games on them...excellent TV is to be had with it....if you have an HD-DVR that is.

PC with an HD monitor. Your options are nearly limitless with a PC as compared to a console machine.

If you're willing to shell out $2000 on a pc why not buy a $1500 pc with a HD tv screen thing and buy a ps3 to run on it as well?
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.

Exactly... there aren't any games out there for the PC at the moment that have caught my immediate attention. I would love to go back to Company of Heroes, but I think I'd invested enough time in that.

All the FF series kick ass. I can never make up my mind to which one is the best of the bunch. It's usually whichever I'd played last that stands out.

Same can be said about the MGS series... with the exception of MGS2, could never get into it with a pathetic whine of a protagonist. Maybe I ought to replay it.

Valid point. But there aren't any games that I'm looking forward to on the PC atm, really. I want the best of what's available now; PC can wait for a while.  Hmm... I think I might have just answered my own question.

Because that would total to over $3,000? It's an either/or mate.

It's currently 9-6 on the poll favoring PC yet those who commented seem to be going for the PS+TV combo. If you do vote, pls share your thoughts.

Thanks for your input. Commencing dispersion of karma.

Of course, you gonna get more people voting for the PC, since this is PC based website. As I said in another thread, it really depends on what you want to play...You obviously a PS fan; hence the games you listed.
