I booted up my laptop at 8:50 PM. It got to Windows fairly quick enough, but once it got to the desktop it took a good 15 minutes for me to be able to do anything. Windows also said a bunch of applications stopped working (the error report thing). WTF? It suddenly started doing this.
What kind of OS is it?
Windows XP SP2

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
moar than half of those can't even apply to a laptop!Freezer7Pro wrote:

Mainly "Reformat", "Undust", "memtest86" and "Check temps".haffeysucks wrote:

I think I'm gonna send this laptop to a firing range. It's old as fuck, and it's always slow... it's just unusually slow now. I'll get a new one in a year when I go to college or wherever life takes me.
I'll pay postage.HurricaИe wrote:

clear BIOS, flash BIOS? come on. you don't even want to mess with that on mainstream laptops anyway.Freezer7Pro wrote:

I have a really old laptop too, (with that FUCKING PIECE OF SHIT RED DOT JOYSTICK MOTHERFUCKER ASSCLOWN as a mouse) and it was really slow at first.
But I noticed defragmenting helps ALOT, I used Diskeeper, and it's at least twice as quick to turn on when it's defragmented.

My old laptop would not boot with hard drives larger than 30GB without a BIOS update. My new laptop would shut off if you typed to fast. BIOS updates often help a lot for different issues.haffeysucks wrote:

my laptop fucked up on EIST and sometimes had problems with suspending without a bios update . Now it works perfectlyFreezer7Pro wrote:

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
