Just got this new Tritton 5.1 surround sound headset - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6826235003

It's fricken

True 5.1 surround sound, in that it has 4 speakers in each ear cup (front, rear, center/sub). It plugs into the wall to power the amplifier. It shakes/rumbles when loud noises (such as grenades) go off. Crystal clear detachable microphone, which bends in pretty much any direction and stays put. Very long cord with a velcro thing that stays on the cord so you can bundle the wire up so it doesn't get caught under your chair etc. Extremely comfortable, although it is rather heavy it sits very very comfortably on your head, doesn't hurt the ears or anything.

I highly recommend this for someone wanting a fairly cheap but extremely good quality headset.

Before with my speakers or even lesser quality headphones (several Logitech ones and a Koss SB/45), I could barely even hear myself sprinting in COD4. But now, I can hear someone fart from 3 maps away - it's amazing.

It's not bad when you're talking about high quality headsets. Look at Sennheiser ones, they cost well over 100$ for the high end ones.

Maybe i should get a pair, my current headsets only work in one ear. And it is like wearing bricks on your ears.
But I just spent 110$ on TF2 and this.

I remember when I like up mine it was marked down from £100+ to £30 due to ripped box, I have never looked back since.

ive always wondered that myself. im kind of a home theater enthusiast, and i have a really hard time understanding how it could actually be able to differentiate all of that in such a little amount of time.

It works, but the sound qulaity is dire. 5.1 headsets are still too immature right now and it's better to go for a top stereo pair imo.

Yes it does. In BF2 it doesn't, I don't think BF2 supports 5.1. But in COD4 it works. The only thing is, center is locked to voices only (like when someone throws a grenade, says they're reloading...etc). But, I can tell very easily if someone is behind me or infront of me.

With regular surround sound headphones, you just hear a noise. You don't know where from, because it can only come from one speaker. You can only really distinguish left and right. With mine, I can distinguish front, rear, (front/rear) left, (front/rear) right.

I'll never go back to regular stereo headphones.

Tritton Technologies own. I've used the AX360 for a few years now. Anything you get from that company is top-notch, but I personally had to go with the digital version instead of the analog.
