A couple of my co-workers are gamers en pc-enthusiasts, none of my non-related work friends don't know, they just see the huge Cooler Master case and a 360 in the room and often play a game.

Do your friends know you're that geeky?
If any of my friends knew half the geeky shit and nights spent gaming and retarded internetisms I know I'm pretty sure they wouldn't be my friends anymore.
Or is it just me, and you all have open honest relationships?
Thats exactly the same for me, when ever my friends come over i delete allof my internet history.
None of them know ive spent 700 hours playin BF2 or any of taht shit, and if they new I played WoW for a bit I wouldnt have any frineds.
Yup, most of em play games with me.
HAHA I always though this was a good thread idea.
They know I have a PC, and play some games on it....None of them are really what I would consider gamers, but all of them play a bit of video games while hanging out drinking or what ever...
But no, I they don't really know. I don't go very far out of my way to hide it but they aren't into it so I don't talk about it much.

Yes.
Some of my friends are geeks too, but the rest harass me for it.

actually the "geek" can be a good thing, as long as you still have decent looks.
If you're the fat guy from that south park episode... this does not apply to you.

yeah. You'd need to blind to not notice it. My apartment is stuffed with PCs. Wherever I go I have my laptop with me on which I do some sort of geeky shit. Hell I've disassembled an overheating professors' laptop during a lesson. I'm proud of it though. Geeks FTW!
I don't think I'd want friends that can't handle me making geeky comments all the time. Being a geek doesn't stop me from going out or going to concerts or whatever.

once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.
Yes but some of my friends are in certain aspects much geekier than I.
One of them who plays CoD4 says that he is like the best player ever, and calls himself "The Ghost" because he uses an AK with a silencer. He once made a claim that he uses Eavesdrop and other players go "OMFG ITS TEH MUTHERFUCKIN GHOST!!!!!111!!!!!ELEVEN!!!!ALYOURBASEAREBELONGTOUSEYOUHAVENOCHANCETOSURVIVEMAKEYOURTIME!!!!!!! over VOIP. So then my other friend goes 1v1 with him and ends up winning 5-0 so now we all sing the GhostBusters' theme song whenever he enters a room.

If you can't be yourself around your friends, then you need to get new ones.
When one of those trendy friends have to take their PC into the shop to get it fixed you can laugh at them.

I'm pretty popular within my sixth form, and i openly talk about playing games. I don't give a shit if they don't like me for who i am, they can go burn in a hole for all i care. The only things that annoy my (girl) friends is the talking about it with other mates who play, then they get annoyed, probably more because they don't know what i'm talking about.
So yeah, i enjoy games and my friends know that, they also do to. And it doesn't effect my social life, so it's all good.

I'm not geeky. I play video games, but I'm not a geek. I don't dress geeky either.
I wouldnt class my self as geeky but my mates know what im like and dont really give it a second thought.
They all have there laptops, ps3 and xboxs ect ect. They loved it when I introduced them to Photshop now there better then me lol!
As for work im a basic tech guy.

the ppl that didnt know i was a geek found out when i was talking to a RL Friend and squadmate on the fone, and sumthing along the lines of "man we raped the shit out of em last night. they couldnt do nothing but spawn and get owned"...
which left a classic look of "wtf" on my non-geek friends faces.

Its about balance.
I play games my mates know that. Im very interested in games, my mates also know that.
Only one of my mates thinks im a geek and he plays CSS ffs. Spend enough time with your mates doing things and people dont think your a geek.

Most of my friends play the games with me, only a few that dont play, but they still know I'm a geek.
Hell, even most of my teachers know. I've become the computer tech for most of my teachers. I'm even getting a block (90min) next school year to be tech for the teachers.

I'm a sexy geek.

I don't have real life friends. Only Internet ones.
Most people I know casually game. I think most people who play games will pick up a little internet knowledge, but that doesn't make anyone geeky. At least that's how I perceive it. Now, if any of my friends talked about WOW on a daily bais, that might be, but it just doesn't happen.

Who needs friends when you can be a geek
I wouldn't say I'm a geek. If playing games online makes me a geek then I'm a geek sure. I know nothing about computers other than knowing how to start the game I want to play.
My friends know that and my GF still loves me.
