I probably should have posted this before I bought it. I have the Asus p5n-e sli ready motherboard and I'm wondering if this card will fit

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a … 6829102016

I'm thinking that it will but I could have just waisted my time.

edit: I need the optical ports to hook it up to my theater in the basement. If I don't have this card I will have to use my regular speakers and carry them down to the basement. Plus I might use the optical ports for my house in a year. I will have a hd tv with dvmi ports and I will use the dream scene for when I throw party's.

It will fit. Its a PCI-E 1x card.
Has no hardware acceleration though so if you're on XP I'd recommend something else but if you have Vista then its okay.

Does that card have hardware acceleration? I heard creative is terrible when it comes to vista drivers and I was planning on switching to vista soon.

Reviews say that they sound way better than the Creative conterparts. They can emulate EAX, too. There's no reason to take a Creative over that.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Problem is, I have 2 8000 gts's and it is touching that pci slot. If I install the card my graphics card might be touching my sound card I'm just wondering if it would be a problem if they touch.

Post a picture of the internals of your PC.

To be on the safe side cancel the order and get an xtreme gamer or xtreme music instead xtreme audio's are just a rebotched audigy chipset and aren't really x-fi standard.

Just so you know Audigy chips are better than X-Fi. They Are made by E-MU, while X-Fi are made by Creative themselves.

Yes but for games if you want to enable full EAX you're gonna need an x-fi. Most games won't recognise the xtreme audio as x-fi, the drivers are audigy drivers, so you won't get the crystallizer/EAX HD which are incredibly useful if you play games like CS or COD. For music the crystallizer wtfpwns the audigy if you're playing mp3s...

Well some like it but it actually derails the signal. How to put it.. it makes it fake? Anyway if you want the best sound for music here are some tips:
Install ASIO and configure it, use Kx driver and connect your 2.1 speakers to the rear output on your sound card (the rears output chip is better than the front), set playback to bitmatched, in Kx control panel set the volume to max since it has no quality loss conversion from low to high volume.

It works. I had to use the 1x slot right in the middle of my 2 graphics cards. I had to take off the connector so I can get it in there. I was over reacting like usual. Thanks guys for all your help.
