Are those RAms next to the CPU? Never seen that on a mobo before.

yep. That layout was used in some DFI AMD boards.

YES. Having the RAM there is not the best of solutions. Looks like BTX, which we know is the definition of FAIL.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

It is ATX but who cares what it looks because it is ALPHA revision prototype board.

FSB has a better ring to it.

Was reading a thread on a form where the guy was insisting that X58 would support SLI.  But with Nvidia and Intels cat fight that is going on atm I doubt that very much.

Intel said there won't be SLi support for the first Nehalem chipsets. No surprise really... Just disappointing

Bump...I guess. Here's my new proposed build for this december (or whenever Nehalem comes out).

Potential upgrade November/Dec. '08:

Nvidia 890i/790i/Intel X58
Nehalem 8 core processor
4 gigs DDR3-1333
2 Western Digital 300 GB Velociraptors
Nvidia 9900 GX2 x2
Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit
Logitech Z-5500 Speakers
CoolerMaster Cosmos S
950w CoolerMaster/Antec PSU

No idea what the next Nvidia chipset will be...890i I presume, but I'm not sure. And if I go with an X58, I won't go SLi as...well, you can't. I think?

Cosmos S = Pure Win.

How much will that rig cost...

All of them.. Every digit known to man!

But srsly, nothing even really even takes full advantage of 4 cores right now, let alone 16...
Doesn't Age of Conan try?
