Please for the love of god start writing new movies.. I saw Iron Man recently it was basically Spider Man and a really long trailer for the second Iron Man movie(which I already suspect will have almost the same plot line as Spider Man 2).. I could only imagine the writers meetings..

Writer one “Well Spider Man did well”
Writer two “Ok so if we take Spider Man out and put Iron Man in his place we’ll have a completely new movie we can sell for lots of money”
Writer one “Ok great lets go to starbucks”

I am a nerd and I did like Iron Man, but it had so much more potential.. If I wanted to see someone at work I'd have stayed at home and watched Dirty Work.. It's not interesting watching how he invented his suit for 45 mins, it's his job.

I just wish that writers would take the time and write an original movie instead of pumping out an origin story. Yes Peter Parker got bit by a spider, his uncle got killed and then he decided to use his powers for good, fantastic way to go. I don't care how he made the decision I just want to see kick ass action..

Transformers is one of my favorite recent movies that has come and it didn’t go through 30 mins to an hour explaining how they where made. It took a simple plot line and made it awesome with giant robots.

That’s my Vent.  You don’t need to start a trilogy with explaining where this person got his awesome power and how they learned to cope with it.  You can do it with a cool story. That is all

Movies need plots, if Iron Man has allot of plot in it then that is a good thing. I didn't like Transformers as the plot seemed to be an after thought, that the CGI effects were made a higher priority than the plot. Now I liked Spiderman allot because it did have a pretty decent plot in it. If there is no or little plot and just CGI explosions than it is not a movie but instead is porn, and no one watches porn for more than 15 minutes at a time at most.

I'm just sick of the origin plot.. They don't need to explain where he got his power.. It was good but it was a long commerical for Iron Man 2..

I beg to differ, much of the audience is too young to remember the old school Iron Man comics.

it doesn't matter, if they put in a good story about a dude in a suit who does stuff. People will go to see that, we don't need to explain where he got teh suit.

Good point. It's all about the dollars. Original thought is out the window. I wish these people were required to read key comics before thinking about writing a story.

Ok I read it now.. He goes and bashes DareDevil and then says they should do a Lobo movie where he should just run around and kill everybody.. It's basically what i'm saying, you can leave the "Origin" part out of the first movie if you have a good story line.. It's like Star Wars, in  episode 4 they didn't spend half the movie explaining why Darth Vader liked to choke people... He just did, then when they decided to explain why he did they ruined it, and made Darth Vader look like a giant homo.. Good story will elevate the origin story..

I agree fass1.  Superman makes a mountain of cash and spawns crappy sequels which also net boatloads of duckets.  It also sets the president for the Batmans, Spidermans, X-Men, and Ironmans to inevitably shake the cash straight from the consumers pockets.  These movies all follow along the same formulaic approach, and all end up being shitty, derivative and lackluster when it comes to actual content.  Sure, some special effects are cool but the weak plots and contrived endings all end up the same:  underwhelming.

I think the problem is that these movies are designed to appeal to the widest demographic possible to obtain the crucial PG rating.  In doing this, the movie is always dumbed down for the ten year olds that will constitute 50% of the viewers, which does not translate well for the hopeful mature viewer.  I have learned to expect little from superhero movies and this is exactly what they deliver.

Wanna fight the continued production of these bloated cinematic disasters?  Don't rush out and hand deliver your $10 to the movie theater.  That way the movie will only gross $250,000,000.00 instead of $250,000,010.00.

That'll show 'em.

an other good point.. War movies don't show 30 mins of why we went to war, they usually start at some point in the war.. That's because a bunch of people sitting around going we're going to invade is boring.. They story line around an interesting story during the war..

Oh I've got that, quick wee bits about what they're doing then 90% of it is pure raw fighting.

Yeah driving miss daisey was a great movie about a guys job where he became a life long friend...

With a movie like Iron Man I want to see him running around kicking ass.. There where only two fights..

Edit; If they where smarter about this they wouldn't go too much into the origin.. Then people who took interest in it would actually research into it and start looking for the comic books and it would make the character a lot more popular.

I think the origin stories are really dependent on the character in question. Some need it to provide a good emotional tie to the character. Some better movies tell the back story throughout the saga. It keeps you interested and wanting to see how it fits together.  (TV series Lost pulls this one off very well). Comics can be very deep, especially ones that have been around for decades.

It saddens me to see the 'summer blockbusters' that lack any real story development. All you end up getting is 'visual effects'. I hate to hear someone return from a movie and say 'it had good visual effects.'  You know it had no substance. The movie people laugh all the way to the bank.
