Ps3 + Hdtv

OKay so i got my PS3 last weekend but im using normal component cable that come with it.. For the moment, but i want to get it HD. My tv is a RCA (dunno the model) early HD like this one>

I has a 1080 input but i've read in the manual an they say that DVI is the only HD port...

So my question is what should i do ? I was think about HDMI cable (10$)+ HDMI to DVI converter(30$) :http://www.tvcables.co.uk/images/items/hdmi-to-dvi.jpg

But is there any other option that won't lower the quality and that won't cost over 50$ ?

If i get the HDMI to DVI cable, how will i get the sound to work? Can i keep the playstion cable and plug only the left/right rca cables?

HDMI contains sound also (but you can also use optical form ps3->sound system)

Well on my tv there is 2 rca females holes .. beside the DVI input. im going to check the manual atm to see if dvi in can get the sound. I hate that fuckin early HDTV that my mom buyed for 4g' years ago, but at least i have a big screen

Yeah it say that DVI only carry video,no sound.
