Al Sharpton was arrested (FUCK YEAH) along with many of his supporters for trying to block traffic on the Brooklyn Bridge.

What a fucking douche.

Al Sharpton is the best enemy New York Republicans could ask for.  He does an excellent job of making both Democrats and black people look ridiculous at the same time.

Was Jesse Jackson there as well?...

Wow. I take offense in that article for calling Sharpton a civil rights leader, as it seems he's only made it worse.

While I agree that Al Sharpton is a douche, I don't really see what was wrong with what he was doing in this instance. It was peaceful civil disobedience, similar to what MLK Jr. did, and it is bullshit that those three cops were acquitted completely.

Well, he has a right to be civilly disobedient, but I don't think he's going to get much sympathy blocking traffic.

As for the cop case, I'll have to look more into that....

because its illegal to block fucking traffic.

civil disobedience is illegal. it gets the fuck out of the road, or it gets the hose again. just like  MLK and those guys.

you don't get to run around doing whatever you want. thats not what happens in a free country. when what you want to do infringes on my right to drive to work and not worry about running over some crazy black dude, you gtfo of the road or you go to jail.

"I won't stop," said Gloria Porter, 64, Bell's great-aunt who came from New Haven, Conn., to join the protests. "I will march, and I will kneel down and pray … never has a white cop been convicted for killing a black man."

You know, it isn't that easy to get riddled by the police, I'd like to hear the full story.

And all three major races are accounted for in the police patrol, so i really doubt race was much of a factor.  Leave it to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton to inject race into a situation.

Lol. So because the government decided something was illegal, that makes it wrong?? You are saying that you think what MLK Jr. did was wrong??? I don't give a shit if it's illegal, if that's the risk to better the moral and legal standards of my country then I'll do it. Technically, the American Revolution was illegal. The Boston Tea Party was illegal. MLK Jr's civil disobedience (no kidding it's illegal, that why its called civil disobedience) was illegal, although apparently you believe that he and the other men, women, and children he marched with deserved the fire hose.

edit: (mostly directed at KMarion) I understand what is illegal about it, I just don't understand why people are opposed to it. It is pretty mindless to let what is legal and illegal guide your moral judgement.

It takes a special kinda person to make a case for morality while advocating criminal activity.

I'm not as appalled as everyone else. I understand he is passionate about what he believes in.. but he of course must accept the consequences of his actions.

C'mon, are you serious? I didn't expect this from you. Its not like this country hasn't made mistakes before. It was once illegal for the slaves in the south to escape their plantations, and yes, I do advocate that and see it as a good thing, so if that makes me a "special person" than so be it.

I'm not saying he shouldn't accept the consequences of his actions. In fact, if you read the article, he did. What I am saying is that people should think for themselves and realize that just because he was arrested for it doesn't make it morally wrong.

You can't crap on everyone else's rights to make your point. What if EMT was trying to get across the bridge? Think about it.

There are dozens of black on black killings in Chicago every month (Mayor Dailey has even publicly pleaded with community leaders to help stop it), where's Al Sharpton to stop the madness?

The man is an oppourtunist, and he forces race onto situations where it wasn't present.  it is possible to shoot a person of another race for reasons other than race.  In fact, most of the time, race is the last thing on a murderer's mind.

You're right. They demonstrated in an irresponsible way. BUT I still think it is ignorant for everyone to simply read "Al Sharpton" and "arrested" and say "FUCK YEAH" and "What a fucking douche" considering the tragic injustice that he was protesting.

No need to apologize. I meant "wrong" as in morally, not legally. He broke the law and was arrested, that part is justified.

OK I should clarify further: I do not think the cause for which he was protesting should warrant such insults from the OP.
