L96 is as accurate as M24. No doubt about it. Many said it's really easy to use now. However, it's only for usage at short/mid range shooting. It's bit harder to use L96 sometimes at a long range shot because the bullet drop is quite bigger than M24 in my opinion.
I just remember someone already posted about the bullet drops of M24 and L96 some time ago.
Yup, sometimes I just messed up with L96 at long range shots. BUT after few missing shots, I just lined up properly and hit normally.
If you want to test it, I recommend you to do it with M24 and L96 at the Wake island map. Hide behind the rocks on the USMC island and try to shoot  someone who goes prone on the road of the opposite land. It's a quite long range shooting. It will take some times to line up properly, surely.
ah, one more thing. You may not see [x] mark even though you actually hit someone. I found sometimes it didn't work, but when he got killed I had 'Killing assistance' point.

Ya, i miss the sniping where you would stalk a target until he stopped for w/e and got him in the head, and those lucky shots where you got him on the run.
Shots on the run aren't lucky shots, that's the big share of my sniper hits, people rarely stand still now that every 2nd person on the server is a sniper with an L96A1.
I think the accuracy is just ideal now,I got one-shot-kills today on Kubra Dam on distances of about 300-350 meters.
The only thing I'm still working on is the bulletdrop, sometimes I hit perfectly, other times I just mess it up big time.
No i meant headshots on the run. I think its stupid that they dumbed the gun down, especially as i saw snipers before the patch who could really bog down a spawn point due to their skill. Now its just bleh

Sniping has always been a finess job. You wait for that 1 perfect shot, and then you take it. and i agree with the increase of the accuracy it seems as if anyone can do it. Not saying any one cant but its just too f*ing easy now m95 has always been my fall back weapon (because the svd and the chinease piece of shit SUCKS), why the hell would any sniper want to fire 5 shots, so his position can be located and then shot with god knows what, when all it takes is 1-2 shots. OK im done ranting about crappy snipers. i know my sniping stats are a lil bad but i didnt get hooked until like 3 months ago

i agreed with kwalken abouth the L96 bullet drop, you can kill from 300-350 mts with not much trouble, but if your target is longer than that, the bullet drop is really a big factor, as he said wake island is a good place to noticed this factor, i was trying to snipe a guy from the north village  to the airfield and it was a 500 mts shot but i couldn't hit the enemy who was standing still.

head shots in moving target are not so hard, specially if they are coming toward you or running away from you.

agreed people running to you or away from you are aesy shots. now test ur skills and lead the enemy with the crosshair while he is movcing sparaticly or side to side.

depens how far is he, if the target is moving at medium range i just use my horizontal line in the crossair to line up to the head and shot one time before the head gets to the vertical line because timming is a big part is this kind of shots, at long ranges is a lot harder and only if my enemy is walking i go for the headshot if the guy is runnig i'll go for the boddy shot (the running targets are harder not because their speed, but because they can run out of stamina and if you shooted just before they slowed down, your bullet will pass infront of your target)

Noriveia, on your advice about the barrel of the gun being stuck in the ground when lying prone, I'll bear that in mind. I just fired two magazines of shots at a stationary target (no idea why he was stood still in the middle of it all) and he didn't die. I didn't even get a kill assist. It's like the bullets disappeared.

Maybe I need to change spot on the hill so that the barrel can't possibly be below ground. I still reckon they fucked up the code in 1.2.  In version 1.12 I used to be bloody accurate with the M95.

And Adonlude, you're right. I do hesitate a lot before pulling that trigger. Partly because I hate injuring teammates.

Firstly, kudos to you guys that can get moving headshots consistently. I've tried many times but failed 9 times out of 10.

Regarding 1.2 sniping, while they have made the sniper rifles more accurate, I've noticed that a lot of headshots don't register at all, I'm getting a lot of the dreaded 'puff of smoke to the head' shots. Especially with close range headshots, like 50m or something.

I was on Kubra Dam last night, and while moving to my nest I suddenly noticed an enemy sniper 50m away directly in front of me, luckily he was not looking at me or I would've been toast. Anyhow, I proned, settled my sights on his head (which as you know is freaking huge at 50m, you just simply can't miss) and 'PUFF'!

OK, what the heck, try again. 'PUFF!' Panicking, I finally nailed him with the third shot...

What was weird was that the sniper never once looked in my direction. Surely he would've heard my shots? He was 1st Lieutenent rank as well so he was an experienced player, so surely something was up, it's as if the game isn't even registering my shots, I get the normal recoil animation and sound and everything else except the hit.
