Problems with new PC.

Specs:

Q9300
Gigabyte P35 DS4
4x1GB OCZ SLI Ram (1066mhz)

Everything starts, but my monitor is black. The monitor recognizes that it is connected to something, but it is black.

I've tried removing all the HDDs, DVD Drives and all but 1 ram stick, and still nothing works.

Help please.

Bad card, bad monitor, bad cables, analog/dvi selection? Do you have another monitor or card you could try?

Re-seat the CPU and check that the graphics card inserted correctly. Does it make any beeps at all? Does it start checking the floppy/CD drives for boot media if you let it stand for a minute?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

I've tried with 2 different monitors with 2 different cables.

The card isn't new and has always worked. Its fan starts on power-up. I don't have any other card to test with, though

What do you mean re-seat it? like, re-install it?

no beeps. I don't know if it checks for boot media.

Does it use power from the PSU? The psu cable could have gone bad.

With my gigabyte board (DS3L), one beep means that it is booting and operating normally. Maybe since you are missing a beep, somethings not working.

I thought of something....

to get the 6-pin connecter for the GFX card, I needed 2 of those 4-pin HDD power cables. I used 2 4-pins from the same cable... I'm guessing that wasn't the best choice?

No he means to make sure your video card or CPU apparently is securely seated(fastened, pushed down all the way, etc.) in its respective slot.

Do you have other RAM to try with it?

Try cycling RAM sticks.

Try reseating CPU (and GPU).

What other components do you have that you could potentially golden part with?

What PSU do you have? I'm guessing it's not very good if it doesn't have PCI-e power connectors on.

changing power cables for GFX won't work.

I do have some other DDR2 sticks, but is it likely that all 4 sticks have failed?

I have cycled RAM

I know CPU is secure, stock heatsink was a bitch, but is secure. GFX is also secure, and locked to the mobo.

I don't have any other PCI cards or anything, so I have no Idea

I have a 400w Antec PSU that came with the case. I know it's low, but it should be enough (I think)

That could very well be the problem. That thing probably hasn't got more than 15A on the 12v rail, if even that. Get a new PSU, you're gonna need it, anyhow.

Depending on the 3800+, it could be everything from a little bit more to almost twice as much. It does, however, use a lot more power idle, and will push the PSU pretty hard from a cold start.

And yes, that PSU will do very fine for most things.

Could be. Though with underpowered PSUs machines usually (but not always) power on and then turn off almost straight away.

Didn't work.

i also had the problem once wer wen i put in my 4 ram sticks the mobo wasnt impressed so black screened at startup. so i only put to ram sticks in and it worked. went into bois and sorted it. try that
