- ATI RADEON users, what CAT. are you running?
I have a 9800XT and the best thing I ever did was stop using the CCC, this alone stopped all crashin to desktop. Next I stopped using ATI stock drivers and started using Omegadrivers and this stopped 95% of the in game lag I had on maps like Iron Gator. You can read about or download these drivers here: http://www.omegadrivers.net/
They install right over the ati drivers and run great. I know alot of gamers that use them so I would suggest giving them a try and see if you like them.

I have a 9600xt and the official ati 6.2 drivers with CCC have been the best for me. I don't get any corruption or artifacts with these drivers that I used to get with previous drivers. I have used omega drivers with previous versions but they just haven't been as smooth as the regular cats. For me, 6.2 has given me the smoothest gameplay without any corruption or artifacts. But, that's just my experience. Just as an FYI: I have a Soyo KT600 mobo (VIA chipset).
9550 flashed to 9600 and running Cat 6.2. No problems so far but a slight decrease in 3dmark from the 5.13 Cats. The game does seem to be running slightly better though.

Yes, just make sure you remove the ATI Control Panel or CCC from the Windows Control Panel, Add/Remove programs before installing.

you might also want to try those XTreme-G WarCat Drivers for ATi. they are tweaked especially for gaming performance as far as i know. and you don't need to worry as they are also based on the newest catalyst drivers and are updated whenever a new one comes out.
hope this helps

Can I install the Omega Drivers over other Modified sets?
Yes, but the procedure here is a little more complicated since other modified sets may contain strange or non-functional tweaks in them, so the best way to upgrade from another third party driver set is to do the steps found just below, in the full uninstall procedure question.
How do I install the Omega Drivers?
Just download the desired driver package from my site, run the file and follow the on-screen instructions carefully.
After installing the Omega Drivers on my laptop it crashes whenever I try to watch a video file or DVD...
The cause IS NOT the ATI drivers or any of my settings, the cause is a hardware bug, more specifically a BIOS bug. In the testing, many people already updated their notebooks with a new BIOS provided by their laptop manufacturer and the video problem is GONE! So I encourage you to go to your manufacturer's web page and see if a new bios update has been issued for your laptop, and if not, e-mail the manufacturer so they can rush out a fix for this. Sorry, but if they can't fix this, there is nothing me or ATI can do about it.
I already have a previous version of the Omega Drivers installed, what is the easiest way to upgrade to a new Omega set?
Just uninstall Radlinker (if it is installed) and the old setup tools from the start menu, then install the new set on top of current one, no need to uninstall it first, it will self-upgrade.
