Fucking embarrasing

Coming from a S939 system, I didn't know you had to connect CPU Power

so it's an 8-pin connection... How do I make an 8-pin connecter with a 6-pin and a 4-pin?

Can't you plug in half of one connector?

I lol'd when I listed the power connectors and Jens said "umm" at CPU 4/8-pin

I think the problem should be fixed with a new PSU, as we already thought up on IRC. Plugging in half of one connector is not adviced

Should work, though.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

indeed should work, I've seen PSU's where you could "split" the 8-pin connector to 2 x 4pins. And ofcourse you coulc "click"them back together for one 8-pin. So it should work .

6 pin is for graphics card only and should not be used for powering the CPU. Either buy a "molex to 4pin extension" so you have 2x 4pin or get a new PSU.

I have that for my HTPC-good PSU, has 2 x4pin. For your mobo you could also connect a single 4 pin connector but only if you are not planning to OC your CPU.

I am planning to OC eventually.

But I'll have to wait untill I find a good aftermarket cooler. My Zalman wouldn't fit between the heatpipes so I had to use the stock cooler (which is also a very tight fit)

Would a 450W be enough if I add an 8800GTS later on?

Mhmm, borderline. I wouldn't fancy the risk though. Get the 520W / 550W imo.

meh, fuck that, way too expensive in Norway.

Over  £100 for anything above 500W.
