My PC is kind of loud - Help

I built this PC back in Nov. It's freaking noise.

I use stock CPU fan, it came with the Q6600, I think, it's just a typical Intel fan and stock 8800GT, but those aren't the problem. It's the case fans. My case is Lian Li PC7+, it has two 120mm fans.

So what shall I do? Change the fans or buy a fan controller...

Also, is there any way to reduce the speed of the fans of the case without fan controller? Just like reducing the speed of the graphics card fan.

Get apps called speedfan and rivatuner. They should sort out fanspeeds for you.

Lian Li is quality but you can try new fans if you have the money

I have both of those programs, but I don't see an option for case fans.

Also, I don't mind buying fans, considering that I am taking this PC with me to university this year( I don't like laptops)...And, it would be painful to hear the fans screaming at me, while doing my work

What brand shall I buy? Link would be nice.

Noctua, or any fans with a nice low decibel rating, bear in mind the CFM rating, how much air it can move, so high CFM, low Decibel.

Xilence 20 decibel rating but 68 CFM for £7

THe Xilence seems a good balance of noise and power.

That and a good, cheap fan controller, like the ZM-MFC1 by Zalman. Even if the fans are dead silent, the pure ammount of air they're moving will generate some noise.

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Are you sure its the Lian li fans causing high noise? i have exact same in my case and they aren't loud at all. The fan on the 8800GT on the other hand is extremely loud. I would replace that before changing anything else.

Nah, the 8800GT is very quite, I tried and put my hands on the fan of the card just for few seconds, I didn't notice a difference. On the other hand, when the fans of the case are not spinning, the whole room just get quite.

my case fan (antec) was prone to rattling (i think the bearings were shafted). anyway instead of kicking the case again i finally replaced it this week with a Noctua NF-S12 1200 RPM 120mm Quiet Case Fan, its built in austria & has a six year warranty.
