Except for the fact that very few Americans actually vote. Sadly, our government is of the people, by (a portion of) the people, and for (a portion of) the people...DrunkFace wrote:

I'm sorry but I think you have taken a small segment of society which you persieve as worthy and stamp them as your national identity which is far from the real truth.Kmarion wrote:

Poll
How do you feel about your country?
My nation rocks! It is the best. | 53% | 53% - 58
My nation is okay, but just one of many. | 37% | 37% - 41
I hate my country. I am ashamed that I am from here. | 8% | 8% - 9
Total: 108 |
It's hard to be proud of a nation when everyone in it would rather watch people making idiots of themselves singing on the national stage instead of listening to someone tell them how things are going. I mean, you don't even have to make all these logical jumps yourself, you can let someone else do it for you, and people still aren't informed.
The U.S. needs a good shot of nationalism.

All I know is my country is probably the best in the world.
I voted 1. Wages could be a bit higher, but other than that, life is pretty sweet.
To be fair, I'd probably be happy in any other western nation also.

My country fails on so much, but awesomely so!
I'm indifferent. I'm not "proud" as such, but I don't mind living where I am. NI has its ups and downs.

Rather pointless question.
Anyone who answers 1 is a moron tbh. You should obviously feel pride in your country but just make sure your head isnt getting so big it cant fit through the door. There is no no.1 country in the world, its none existent. Some countries are better than others for different things, how can you truly measure something that is subjective anyway.

Iceland just had the lowest rating(I donno what its called) of its Icelandic Króna since 1975. And the problem solver for every Icelandic person here... Visa.
I doubt I'll be staying in this country for much longer, seeing that its pretty boring and USA is getting a proper president and my mother wants to move back to the US cause the economy here is going to hell and filling up a car costs about $100 now.

Probably not the best place to move if you want to escape a failing economy.Missionless wrote:

Every day I wake up I thank God that I am not from Ireland or France. Then I smile at the fact that the Muslim terrorists are being hunted down and killed like dogs and how upsetting this is to liberals everywhere and the funny things it drives them say.
heh I know. But here in Iceland we are seeing prices of food increase up to 30-40% and a worse depression is expected than we had in the 90's and that was very bad.jord wrote:

I'm not in america right now but I doubt you're(ugh ur british) having it as bad over there as we are. And our government will never consider taking up the Euro, so stupid.

It´s worth saying patrioism can be a good thing ( similar to religon imo ) makes people bond and work together, but often it turns to elitism we have seen what that can turn into.
Nationalism is stupid.
Maybe someone from the Sudan will chime in with their feelings?

Get away you damn buzzards I am trying to give birth here to a child I will orphan in 1 week so Sally Struthers can put its face on a flyer begging for money. "

It´s a thin line imo whereas nationalism can strengthen you elitism leads towards destruction shutting out other people ( foreigners ) - creates a "we and/against them" scenario. I really can´t see where elitism would be good the nazis always comes to my mind.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

Seriously though, while I'm rather proud of this nation moreso than China (much to the disappointment of my parents), it definitely isn't the greatest country in the world.
