Okay so i got my ps3 and ordered a HDMI to DVi cable to fit it to my tv that can play HD via DVI @ 1.78 GB/sec. A guy at my work told me that it wouldn't even look good, 1080i was not even 720p... I looked on wiki. and the resolution (1280x1080) is lower then a 1080p (1920x1080) but still higher then a 720p (1280x720). The i mean interlaced instead of the progressive mode but is it bad? Anyway im kinda confused with all the term and resolution/ refresh rate ...

Can someone tell me if i'll get "real" HD with a 57" projection 1080i hdtv ??

Progressive > Interlaced

1080p > 1080i > 720p

Atleast, from what I've determined from hands on visuals.

Generally yeah, although 1080i vs 720p is about the same in my opinion, 720p is easier on the eye.

1080i, 1080p, and 720p are considered high definition. It will look amazing.
My TV is 1080i and the HD channels are stunning.
